Special Surprise

My special surprise is probably not what you are thinking but it is very important to me and I want to share it with everyone. My dearest Me-ma MADE me an engagement present. She made a scrapbook recipe book. It was so sweet!! She gave it to me the day she got here in Nashville and I was so shocked.I had no idea that she was making this for me. And the best part is that I have secret family recipes in this book, the famous Red Velvet Cake and a whole heck of a lot more. She put our engagement announcement in it and wrote a very sweet letter one first page. Now, I can only show you cute embellishments and things like that because lets face it, there are secret family recipes in this book. I have also been informed by my lovely aunt that they are under lock and key and/or recipe etiquette. So here is the very special recipe book:

Isn't so cute!! There was so much more I wanted to show you in pictures but the flash from my camera overexposed everything so you couldn't even tell what it was. But this was the best engagement present ever. It is something that I will leave out in my kitchen and it will be cherished for many years. Plus I get to be the best cook because I have the best recipes.

In addition to the scrapbook recipe book, Mema put together a wedding planning bag. In it is a note pad, a journal or notebook (whichever I want to use ot for), a photo book to put pictures in of when I order things for our wedding or go pick out my wedding dress, things like that, and a wedding planning checklist and information sheets. It is such a great idea, I will carry it where ever there are wedding plans or bridal shows. There is always something to write with and all of it stays together. I can't wait to really use it.

Travis got me this clipboard because first of all it match all the stuff in my wedding planning bag and its great to have when I have to fill out forms or those information sheets at Bridal shows.

Thank you Mema so much for the best present a person could give to a Bride during this special time in her life. You put the cherry on top of my sundae!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you, I will cherish them for life.

  1. Ash, I'm so glad you shared these two very special gifts. They really are AMAZING. The recipe book is unlike any that I have ever seen. Just the time and labor MeMa put into it is overwhelming. It is a very special gift that will be yours to treasure forever. The pictures don't even begin to describe how special that book is. What a blessing to have something like that....something that her own hands created for you, not to mention those "priceless" recipes! And the Bridal Planning Bag is sooo cute. Mema, she carried it at the Bridal Show and everyone was asking her about it. You could make them and sell them! But Ashley would always have the original Mema Designer Bag!

  2. I want your Mema!
And by the way, I would hide that thing good next summer 'cause I'll be looking for it when we visit! The page with the red velvet recipe may end up missing!
